Transcending Biology

06.18.08 | 1 Comment

I’ve recently heard an NPR piece mention Ray Kurzweil and his book The Singularity Is Near. I don’t know much about it yet, but when I see things like Dean Kamen’s robot arm, it actually seems plausible that if given enough time, we (humans) may be able to transcend biology. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not something I ponder often, but at least it will get people thinking their “being” is more than the carbon, hydrogen and oxygen they call a body. (I know I sound like a sci-fi nut but really, I am normal…ask any of my friends over there. The ones dressed in the Storm Trooper armor.)
